Raising Funds for Cancer Stricken Student
 

TAR College proves that it not only emphasizes on quality and affordable education, it is also a College with a caring heart. Recently, the College initiated a donation drive to raise funds for a cancer stricken student named Mr. How Cheng Jiang,

Its School of Business Studies, Student Welfare Committee (SBS SWC) swung into action to collect donations to contribute to the medical treatment of Cheng Jiang, a student of the Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting) for malignant tracheal tumour.

Mr Tan Aik Hoe, the Project Coordinator and SBS SWC Welfare Director said, “When we first know about Cheng Jiang’s condition, we immediately set about collecting funds for his operation and treatment.” He added that through the combined efforts of all students and staff, SWC managed to collect a total of RM 12,118.70. The students went around from one lecture hall to another asking for donations as well as approaching the College staff.

Mr Cheah Ui Lee, the advisor of SBS SWC and its committee members presented a mock cheque to the representative of the Yayasan Nanyang Press.
