Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) Advanced Diploma in Technology (Building) graduating student, Ms Chat Soon Qian has every reason to smile at the TARC Convocation ceremony held at the College Hall of the Main Campus in Kuala Lumpur, on 14 November 2009.
This bright lass has won three coveted Awards in a row; an achievement feat that earned thunderous applause from all present in the hall during the Convocation. The Awards were Professor Chin Fung Kee Memorial Prize, CIOB Certificate of Excellence and the CIOB Malaysia Book prize. A beaming Soon Qian attributed her achievements to the intensive group work, discussions and the guidance of her lecturers and tutors.
Another winner to share the limelight was Miss Chin Sook Kuan who graduated with Distinction in the Advanced Diploma in Business Studies (Marketing). Currently working as a Marketing Executive in Shah Alam, Sook Kuan added that the encouragement from the lecturers at TAR College motivated her to work harder and to excel. She quipped, “Of course, I also revise constantly and work hard in completing all assignments.”
A total of 870 graduating students in Advanced Diploma for various programmes in Technology, Business Studies, Science and Mass Communications received their scrolls in the Convocation this year which also coincided with the College 40th Anniversary. The Guests-of-Honour were Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and Tan Sri Dato’ Lau Yin Pin in the morning and afternoon sessions respectively. The common message from both the Guests-of-Honour to the graduating students was to contribute back to society through helping others and to constantly update oneself in terms of knowledge and skills.
There was also the presentation of two prestigious awards - the ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Perpetual Cup to Kuan Huey Ling (represented by her brother) and the MAICSA (The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) Perpetual Cup to Yeoh Zi Cheng. |
