MoU signing between TAR College and NCL Solutions Sdn Bhd
 

TAR College and NCL Solutions Sdn. Bhd (the exclusive training arm for the US based Novell Incorporated) has signed an MoU on 1st October 2009, sealing a strategic partnership to offer the SuSE Linux Evangelist Linkage and Collaboration (SLICE) in its information technology curriculum.

This signing formalised the collaborative relations between the College and NCL Solutions Sdn Bhd to support and assist the academic faculty to train students especially in the area of SUSE Linux server administration and to facilitate open source software development and implementation in ICT of the country.

As elaborated by Dr Tan Chik Heok (Principal of TAR College) in his welcome speech, “NATP (Novell Academic Training Partner ) programme is an ideal way to teach Novell and Linux technologies, where instructors receive access to top-notch training materials, and students can delve into some of the IT industry’s most advanced networking, open source and computer solutions. It is a joint commitment to train the young generation of today and arm them with highly-demanded IT skills set.”

The Novell Certified Linux Professional (NCLP) curriculum have been either fully or partially incorporated into the College programme structures of the Advanced Diploma in Science (Business Information Systems), the Advanced Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) and the Advanced Diploma in Science (Microelectronics with Computer Communications).

TAR College also scored a double win by clinching the prestigious “Best Novell Academic Training Partner 2009” at the NATP Summit 2009 held on 30 September and its Advanced Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) student, Mr. Tan Tze Jie won the Top Student Award by achieving the highest score in the NCLP professional certification examination. A beaming Tze Jie enthused “As an ICT student of TAR College, I am proud to have been given the opportunity to learn SUSE Linux (NCLA) during my course of study. Besides that, I am happy that I was also given the privilege to work with NCL Solutions Sdn Bhd during my internship.”
