Informative. Enlightening. Fun. Those are the words that best summarize the 3rd TARC-MAICSA Student Convention which was held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TAR College) Kuala Lumpur Main Campus on 11 July this year.
A total of 252 Business Management and Business Administration students from School of Business Studies (SBS) attended the annual event which was organized by the Student Committee in collaboration with MAICSA (The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators). The Convention aimed to provide the students with insights into career opportunities of ICSA qualification and also opportunities to develop soft-skills.
“Chartered secretaries are in high demand in Malaysia and we are proud to say that there is 0% of unemployed ICSA graduate,” said Mr Tan in his briefing to the students.
The Convention also featured a corporate experience sharing session by Ms Jessica Liew, Director of Erdington Corporate Consultancy together with TAR College alumni Ms Woo Vi Dea (a MAICSA prize winner) and Ms Chan Pui Yee (a MAICSA scholarship holder).
“I find the briefing given by Mr Phillip Tan really helpful as he shed some lights on the queries we have about the career prospects and the qualifications needed to become a chartered secretary. I enjoyed the “Amazing Race” (game session) which has helped to boost my self-confidence, and hone my leadership and communication skills,” said one of the participants Peggy Go, an Advanced Diploma in Commerce (Business Management) Year 2 student.
The College has enjoyed a strategic partnership with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators for 38 years since the inception of the School of Business Studies in 1971. The maximum exemption granted by MAICSA to the TAR College Advanced Diploma in Commerce (Business Management) is an endorsement of the continuing excellent academic delivery of ICSA programme at the College.
“TAR College prides itself in not only producing the highest number of chartered secretaries in Malaysia but also consistently achieve high performance rates in the external ICSA examinations including winning international and national prizes at each examination,” said TAR College Student Affairs Department Mr Ung Thean Lim during the launch of the event |
