Cultural Exhibition ‘Faces of Malaysia’

Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TAR College) public relations students organized a two-day cultural exhibition themed ‘Faces of Malaysia’ from August 19 to 20.

The event, organized by the final-year Public Relations Diploma students was launched by TAR College’s new Principal Dr Tan Chik Heok.

The main objective of cultural event was to preserve the culture of the three main races in Malaysia namely the Malay, Chinese and Indian.

Dr Tan, in his opening speech, said Malaysia is multi-cultural country whose social integration has become a model for the rest of the world.

“Although each of these cultures have vigorously maintained their traditions and community structures, they have also blended together to create a uniquely diverse cultural heritage.” he said.

Three main booths were set up in the College Hall with each representing one culture.

The exhibition focuses on ten cultural elements of the races – traditional food, martial arts, traditional attire, festivals, traditional dance, ceremonies, marriages, handicraft and herbs, games and instruments.

The main purpose of organising the event was to expose students to skills and knowledge in event management which is essential in Public Relations.

Dr Tan also added that the event was not only a cultural exhibition but provided practical exposure to the public relations students in order to meet the future working challenges.

The main sponsor for this event is Memori Corner as well as MCFP.
