TAR College recently held its sixth annual ProDex (Project Design EXhibition) which showcased the final year
projects of Advanced Diploma students from the School of Technology.
This year, the student projects revolved around four categories, which are Prototype & Model, Computer Simulation/ Programming, Social Science
Research, and Management/ Engineering/ Experimental Research.

Chinese Orchestra Performs in “Rhythm of Rahman” Concert
|

After their successful opening for the Patriots of Love musical show, the TAR College Chinese orchestra returns once again
to perform in the “Rhythm of Rahman” concert held at DK A, wowing audiences with the use of traditional Chinese musical instruments. |

School of Business Studies (SBS) – McGraw Hill Business Management Competition.
|

Students from SBS participated in a business management game competition organised jointly with McGraw Hill, a global publishing house at the KL Main Campus from 26 to 27th November 2010.
40 students, participating in 8 teams each with 5 members applied their knowledge and skills acquired from their studies in a stimulated business environment.

Former TAR College Student Excels Academically in Singapore
|
| |
Congratulations to Chung Xiu De, a graduate from TAR College who has successfully earned a Diploma in Economics with Distinction by the University of London (‘UOL’) with the Singapore Institute of Management (‘SIM’). He is one of sixteen students who graduated with distinction in Diploma in economics for year 2010 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Finance which is awarded by UOL and SIM.
TAR College was commended by SIM for its high-caliber graduates who perform remarkably well in their studies and earning recognition for their achievements.
It advocates holistic education which stresses on wholesome development to realize the full potential of the students.
Chung Xiu De did his A-level in TAR College before going to SIM.
“Studying in the college has helped me a lot in learning and provided the skills I needed to get the best out of education” he said.

TAR College Career Fair 2010

The Career Fair was organised specifically to cater to different groups of students from various schools. On the 23rd November 2010, it was for the School of Social Science and Humanities, 24th November 2010, the School of Technology, 25th November 2010, the School of Arts & Science and 26th November 2010, the School of Business Studies.

Held in the Clubhouse Function Room, big players like Gamuda, Ann Joo Group, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Felda Holdings Berhad, Canon, Genting Malaysia Berhad, IJM Corporation Berhad were there to answer questions and interview students for internship and future employment. |

TAR College School of Arts & Science students and staff put together their talents and creativity in organizing the recent ICT Showcase held at the College Hall. Themed as “IT’s Green” the showcase is to create awareness on the impact and benefits of IT Green Technology. The 2- day event attracted the participation of 13 leading ICT organizations such as Microsoft, CSC and NCL Solutions to showcase their systems/products in line with Green IT.

TAR College “Patriots of Love” Musical Marks Warm Alumni Homecoming

The wretched cries of villagers losing their loved ones in war, brought tears to the eyes of the audiences; and as the villagers rejoiced and danced over the long awaited reunion, the hall of Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TAR College) roared with applause.

Lending a page off Malaysia’s rich history, the TAR College homecoming alumni were treated to a musical that re-imagined the dark hours of the Japanese occupation to tell the story of love and unity, aptly named “Patriots of Love”.

TAR College and Hilti (M) Sdn Bhd organized a career talk, “Where potential meets opportunity” for students from School of Arts & Sciences. It aims to create awareness about Hilti’s nature of business in providing products, systems and services to construction professionals. and the career opportunities available within the organisation.
The speakers included Mr. Patrick Mayer, Head of Order & Supply Chain Management, Mr. Simon Wong, Sales Manager and Ms. Chai Kim Ling, Team Lead IT Application Support. Ms. Chai quoted that Hilti prefers hiring TARC IT graduates due to their knowledge in SAP applications.

Advanced Diploma graduates celebrated their academic success in the TAR College Advanced Diploma Convocation held on 13 November, 2010 at the KL Main Campus.

Held in two ceremonies throughout the day, College Council Chairman, Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting graced the morning ceremony while Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Dr. Hou Kok Chung attended the evening session.

TAR College & CIMB Foundation collaborate for Public Speaking Competition 2010 |

Tar College, through its School of Arts and Science Alumni Society, was recently given a grant by CIMB as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to conduct English language courses, facilitated by ERICAN, for college students. |

After 10 programmes, held throughout the month of October, five finalists were chosen for the Public Speaking Competition 2010 as the final leg in the programme.

In the end, Cheng Suet Eng, second year student of the Advanced Diploma in Business Studies (International Business), who presented her reasons for people to recycle, emerged as a winner and won a certificate and a cash prize of RM 1,000.00. |
