TAR College Continues to Excel in Professional Accountancy Education with ACCA Platinum Status |

TAR College (TARC) continues to reaffirm its premier standing in accountancy teaching and learning through attaining the prestigious ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Platinum Award. The award ceremony, held on 28th February 2011 at the College Hall, Main Campus in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur was attended by Y B Dato' Wira Chor Chee Heung, Minister of Housing and Local Government, ACCA Director , Asia Pacific, Ms May Law and more than 500 guests including representatives from ACCA, accounting firms, professional bodies, corporations,college staff and students.
The Award is the highest level of accreditation from ACCA (the largest and fastest growing international accountancy body in the world) to universities and colleges globally under the ACCA’s Approved Learning Partners – student tuition programme. Achieving the ACCA platinum Award is another milestone achievement for the College, which has carved a strong niche in professional accountancy education since the inception of its School of Business Studies in 1971.

Alumni Celebrates TARC Foundation Day |
| |
The TARC Alumni Associations got together with Dr. Tan Chik Heok, the College principal, academic heads and senior College Officials on 24th February 2011 to celebrate TAR College’s foundation day.
Dr. Tan Chik Heok, and Mr. Ang Eng Chuan, President of the Federation of TARC Alumni Associations then shared a simple cake cutting ceremony to mark the official establishment day of TAR College. The initiative taken by the alumni is really touching and it also marks its strong connection with the College and indeed symbolizes the bond it has with its alumni.
The alumni members also were all ears listening to Dr. Tan’s updated on the current donation drive to the College Trust Fund to build the Student Centre. The alumni present rallied together to instantly raise over RM60,000.

TAR College celebrates the success of its Pre-University students |
| |
TAR College under the School of Pre-University Studies (SPUS) continues to produce outstanding Cambridge A-Levels graduates in its effort to nurture the young and bright minds of tomorrow. 10 SPUS students have been awarded with Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award 2010 for being Top in the World and Top in Malaysia (June & November 2010 examination). The award presentation ceremony took place on 22nd February at Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya. Prior to this event, SPUS had a special celebration for its A Levels top achievers in Function Room, College Hall.
Besides that, SPUS recently celebrated the achievement of its STPM students. The School’s performance in this national examination has improved as compared to last year, particularly in 8 out of 12 subjects offered with as many as 10 students achieving 3 ’A’s and above and many more with 2’A’s and at least a ‘B’.

TAR College invites Malaysian celebrity for Public Talk |
| |
In light of the upcoming drama presentation by the TAR College Chinese Language society (happening on 14 March), TAR College invited famous Malaysian TV and radio personality, Wen Kang, to share his experience as a writer and director of the new stage play, Let’s Love.
Wen Kang, along with newcomer, Ong Hong Yi, gave students pointers in dealing with people, script writing and logistics, in order to run a stage play and advised students to challenge themselves by trying on different tasks.

(LJMU) gave a thought-provoking talk on “What is a Modern Global University for?” to senior College officials, staff and students of TAR
College at the Function Room, Clubhouse.

TARC welcomed back former SAS students who graduated in the late 1980s. The former SAS students, engaged in a dialogue with the College’s Management regarding TARC’s Trust Fund and further discussions on how the Alumni can assist its alma mater in its programme delivery. Old times were reminisced between them and more catching up was done over lunch where the alumni and the senior officials shared a “yee sang”.
