Distribution of RM200 1Malaysia Book Voucher at KL Main Campus

 

1Malaysia Book Voucher collection counters was set up from 10 - 13 January at four locations namely Bangunan Tun Tan Siew Sin, Bangunan Khaw Kai Boh, Function Room and School of Pre-University Studies (SPUS) office for TARC students to collect their RM 200 worth of book vouchers as announced by our Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during 2012 Budget Presentation on October 7, 2011 in the Parliament.

TAR College (TARC) visited by Irish Educators
 

Irish educators from Institute of Technology Sligo, Dublin City University, Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Athlone Institute of Technology, Cork Institute of Technology and Education Consultant from MyStudy and Commercial Counsellor from Embassy of Ireland, visited TARC KL Main Campus. They were warmly greeted by the Senior Management Staff led by Dr Tan Chik Heok, TARC Principal, Mr Chan Kum Wing, TARC Vice Principal, Academic & Facilities Development, Ms Kho Sok Kee, TARC Vice Principal, Collaboration, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Ms Phoong Huei Ling, TARC Registrar and Dr Oo Pou San, Head, Centre for Continuing and Professional Education.

After having meeting to discuss on collaboration opportunities, the group visited TARC Gallery.

TARC Participation at the 2012 Star Education Fair

 

The College participated in the 2012 Star Education Fair with six booths which was well attended by parents and students. Such participation is exemplary of its efforts to reach out to many more prospective students in search of tertiary education.

The College is also a contributor to the Star Education Fund (SEF).Dr Tan Chik Heok, the College Principal presented a plaque to Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr Hou Kok Chung as a representation of its pledge to SEF at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Star Education Fair.

TAR College students' creative photos selected for the OSK Property Calendar 2012
 

The College is very proud that its Creative Arts students’ photos submitted for the OSK Calendar Art Competition has been successfully selected for the OSK Property Calendar 2012.

From portraying homes as a pre-war building, a living outdoor museum to even a dream home on wheels, these winning photos certainly endear us to the everlasting value that home is where our heart lies. Such insightful award winning photos taken by our students from the School of Social Science and Humanities (SSH) exemplify the quality teaching and learning that are hallmarks of TARCian holistic education.
 

January - Hong Lay Zyee
 

Home is a very warm, comfortable and safe place. It is a place for everyone to gather and share their joy. Four simple steps await me as I climb up the stairs comfortably into my home. Although it is a very old house, the strong door and solid metal grill protect us. Sheltered by the trustable awnings, it gives me the confidence and assurance that I am forever welcomed whenever I return. Home means everything to me.
 

February - Kam Lee Cui
 

The definition and meaning of home to many people can be mind-boggling! This photograph shows the delicate balance of interior and exteriors of a home in Jerantut, a pre-war building that retains its original facade, refusing to be awashed with time.
 
 

March - June Lee
 
Many may perceive that home should conform to societal conventions. I beg to differ! This is my dream home on wheels. It may seem odd but the photograph speaks my character, eager for freedom, and refuge at the same moment.
 
 

April - Liu Jia Ching
 
Ipoh is my hometown that inspired me of what home really is. Dubbed “Little Hong Kong” to many people, this township is littered with signage boards that fueled my imagination for Western typography and Chinese Calligraphy studies. In this photograph, I singled out the buildings and signage boards that helped build the local culture and identify of Ipoh, a place I call home.
 
 

May - Phang Siew Wen
 
This is my home, a quiet enclave within a metropolis like KL. A subtle lighting is used to create a rustic mood. My home is where I find happiness and peace amidst the hustle and bustle of city life.
 
 

June - Yin You Xian
 

Home can be a living outdoor museum. Strong graphical lines complementing contrasting colours and rich texture embodied in the architectural artwork surrounding my home. The facade of the building speaks volume about its colonial past glory.
 
 

July - Hong Lay Zyee
 
Home is a very warm, comfortable and safe place. It is a place for everyone to gather and share their joy. The same goes to this coffee shop that is still run by Ah Gong who is 85 years old. He makes sure that his cuppa is the best in town. Everyone sees this coffee shop as their “second home” where they can socialise freely and safely.
 
 

August - Tan Ley Mei
 
Home is all about love and protection. This photo shows my mother’s feet on the very same floor that our home was built on. When I was a baby I would sit on the same floor, whilst my mother cooked and cleaned for the family. This is the home I shall cherish forever.
 
 

September - Chan Meng Kit
 
To some of us, home is the boundary between the old and contemporary. Urbanisation is catching up fast. As the adage states ‘time and tide wait for no man’, with this spatial line of divide, a special moment immortalised for posterity.

Home means space. This photo depicts the invaluable space that that is seldom found in city living. It provides me the necessary environment for a balanced and healthy lifestyle I used to enjoy. The carefree environment found in a typical home in Tampin, enviable to many city dwellers.

Home is a place that offers shelter, protection and imagination. When I was young, red was the only colour that speaks warmly about home. Now, I realise that red is only one of the many colours found in the spectrum of light. This photography depicts the harmony existence of red and other colours that reflect the warmth of my home.
 
 

December - Tan Jia Ji
 

Tea, has a scent of home, especially the one brewed by my grandfather. Appreciate the rawness, the old wooden table top, the traditional way to brew a good tea, the bare-finished concrete and lastly the always-be-there family. Home is where we started our life. Home is always where we belong to.
