TAR College Students Gain Knowledge in Science and Maths
The annual Science & Mathematics Exhibition was the event that everyone was looking forward to every year. Through this exhibition, students from the Science and Mathematics Society were given an avenue and the golden opportunity to express their creativity in coming up with awe-inspiring booths pertaining to global issues such as technological advancement, natural catastrophe, astronomy and sex education. The exhibition was a success as all the booths were jam-packed with students, their parents and even lecturers throughout the day. They were singing praises on the spectacular job done by the students in creating a one-of-a-kind exhibition, which truly captures the society’s spirit of teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.

Of all the impressive booths, the Physics Kicks booth stands out among the rest. Their spectacular display of a ‘live’ volcano was a big crowd-puller. Often, groups of students and curious parents would gather around the volcano and wait anxiously, hoping to get a glimpse of the erupting volcano, which goes off at a 30 minutes interval. The booth managed to clinch the champion title, awarded to the most interesting booth.

A notable booth was the Sex Education booth, where the taboo subject was addressed through various displays of various contraceptive methods, aimed at raising the students’ awareness of the dangers of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and educating them about the importance of practising safe sex. The Computer Science booth on the other hand managed to capture the attention of the tech-savvy crowd with their creative display of the latest computer gadgets and gizmos.

The crowd seem to be flowing in non-stop as the day went on. Visitors could be seen encircling the booths that captured their interest which included the Maths Magic booth with their jaw-dropping magic tricks while not for the faint-hearted was the Dissection booth which demonstrated the process of dissecting frogs and rats. For those who are health conscious, the Health Science booth offered free blood pressure tests and information leaflets about diseases and healthy eating. Lastly, at the Astronomy booth, viewers were stunned by the immense creativity and meticulous display of colourful orbs representing the planets in our solar system.
