Beauty and Talent Come Together at the OO Nite

For staff and students alike, the Orientation Odyssey Night in TAR College conjures up images of beauty, fun, and excitement. This year's "OO" night was definitely a combination of all three. Twelve finalists exhibited their talents and style as they vied to be the new Freshie King and Queen, coveted titles that would make them instant celebrities in the student community.

However, good things do not come easy. The contestants had to convince a panel of celebrity judges comprising of Dylan and Adam Carruthers (8TV hosts), Vic (the first Malaysian Idol first runner-up), Ms Josephine (a former Ms Astro), Ms Soo Yunn Ru (a model and an ex-Freshie queen) and our very own Ms Nadeane (fashion design lecturer).

At the start, the contestants wooed the crowd when they sashayed down the stage with elegant evening gowns and suits. Guest performers, Mirage, the winners of the Talent Time Nite 2007 entertained the audience before the contestants got together for a sketch and song and dance number. The highlight of the night was when the contestants showcased their individual talents ranging from tossing a Chinese yo-yo, cheerleading, singing and playing the keyboard, miming, belly-dancing and playing drums. The judges certainly had a hard time picking the winners as all the finalists were equally talented.

The contestants putting their acting skills to the test in a sketch.		The night was livened up by the antics of the very talented and comical MCs, Sam, Faizal and Amanda. The trio had the audience in stitches with their perfect comic timing and self-deprecating jokes. They also played a very important role of keeping the audience entertained and tickled while the judges carried out the difficult and heavy task of picking the new Freshie King and Queen. After quite a long period of deliberation by the judges, the moment of truth came when Mr Yong Hon Yik and Ms Kamen Lim walked away as the new Freshie King and Queen of TAR College. Congratulations Hon Yik and Kamen and may both of you have a glorious and exciting reign.
