September 18, 2007 was marked as a historic day in TAR College’s calendar as for the first time since its establishment 38 years ago, the College had the honor of having the Minister of Higher Education Dato’ Mustapa Mohamed and his deputy Datuk Ong Tee Keat visiting the TAR College Main Campus in Kuala Lumpur.
The purpose of the visit by the Minister and his delegation was to get a better understanding of the College and discuss with the College management on some of the issues pertaining to the recognition of TAR College qualifications.
The team met with TAR College’s Principal Ms Yoong Lai Thye and top management officials who presented a briefing on the background of the College, programmes conducted, academic facilities and resources available, as well as other academic-related issues.
Dato’ Mustapa also took the opportunity to update the College on some of the latest developments in the higher education scene, in particular the recent launch of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan and the National Higher Education Action Plan.
In his opening address, the minister remarked that quality in every aspect of the higher learning institution fraternity is essential to ensure education excellence. “It is the most important issue in the National Higher Education Strategic Plan and we are working towards further improving the quality of higher education, and to benchmark ourselves with the best in the world,” said Dato’ Mustapa. |
