Perak Branch Campus Takes Centre Stage
On July 28, TAR College Perak Branch Campus was the focus of attention when VIPs such as Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Ting, Chairman of Tunku Abdul Rahman College Council and Minister of Housing and Local Government, accompanied by Tan Seri Dato’ Hew See Tong, Kampar Member of Parliament, with council members Tan Sri Dato’ Lau Yin Pin, Dato’ Ong Ka Chuan, and Ms Yoong Lai Thye, College Principal converged at Kampar for the official opening of the Perak Branch Campus Phase II buildings.

To liven up the launching, many performances from staff and students were organized. The Chinese Orchestra comprising 30 talented musicians, who are College students, presented music pieces such as “Lenggang Kangkung”, “Nan Er Dang Zhi Qiang”, “Oh! Carol” and “Wau Bulan”. This performance was followed by a dance by College students and two songs entitled “Sejahtera Malaysia” and “Rasa Sayang” presented by the staff of Perak Branch Campus. To add spice to the already lively day, Bel Canto, the champion of the Group Singing Category Talent Time Night Contest 2006, belted out “Prayer” and “A Whole New World”. Not to be outdone, Chin Lai Li, the champion of the Instrumental Category, presented a famous classical piece entitled “Prelude in C# Minor” by Rachmaninoff, the famous Russian composer.

As the saying goes, “A picture speaks a thousand words”. So, what better way to depict Perak Branch Campus’s development by showing a specially prepared video before the official opening ceremony by Dato’ Seri Ong. Later on, Dato’ Seri Ong and Tan Sri Dato’ Hew See Tong, who donated the land which the Branch Campus stands on were presented with baskets of pastries specially prepared by staff and students of the Campus.

To showcase the magnificent new additions to the campus, a tour of the new Auditorium, Clubhouse, lecture and tutorial rooms, and Olympic-sized swimming pool was organized. This tour worked up the appetite and everyone was treated to a sumptuous lunch at the new multi-purpose hall at the Clubhouse.
