TAR College Alumni Sets Up Student Loan Fund

In March 2009, the President of Federation of Tunku Abdul Rahman College Alumni Associations, Mr Tai Sing Nge presented a mock cheque of RM200,000 to Dr Tan Chik Heok, the College Principal for the setting–up of TARC-Federation of Tunku Abdul Rahman College Alumni Associations Student Loan Fund. The sum was raised during a Fundraising Dinner held in conjunction with the College’s Anniversary Celebration.

Another fellow alumni, Mr Wong Cheng Siung accompanied by his wife presented a mock cheque of RM100,000 to Dr Tan for the setting up of TARC-Wong Ying Hua Student Loan Fund. The loan fund was set up in memory of his late father, Mr. Wong Ying Hua. Mr Wong’s contribution was also an expression of his heartfelt gratitude towards his alma mater for the quality education which helped him in building a successful career as Managing Director of ASPAC Alliance Steels Sendirian Berhad.

YB Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, TAR College Council Chairman who was present at the Ceremony praised Mr Wong Cheng Siung for setting a fine example for others to follow. He also recorded his thanks to all benevolent TARCians for their generous contribution towards the College student loan fund. The encouraging trend of alumni who believe in giving back to their alma mater will undoubtedly benefit more deserving students.
