The Vista Week organized by the Computer Science Society of School of Arts and Science (SAS) from 14 to 21 March was a roaring success. It showcased Microsoft’s hottest operating system and application software.

The Vista Week was aimed at promoting the Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 to TAR College students as well as to update them on the new features of the softwares. Besides getting a taste of the cutting-edge softwares, students also had loads of fun participating in various games and competitions such as the Vista Walk Hunt, Vista Poster Design Competition and lucky draws.
The highlights of the Vista Week also included Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 presentations by TAR College Microsoft Student Partners. One of them, Lim Huey Chen, who was also the Chairperson of the Event Committee, said, “The Vista Week was an exciting and wonderful event as the students had fun while learning about the technologies.”
The event was also a great learning experience for the members of the organizing committee as we learnt about the importance of teamwork, communication, organization skills, leadership, time management, and even comradeship,” added Huey Chen, who is a first-year Advanced Diploma in Science (Information Systems Engineering) student.
Besides the committee members, many participating students also found the event a rewarding experience.
The Vista Week is really a wonderful event! I got a Windows Vista Business Edition through this event. I hope events like this will be organized annually as it is highly beneficial to students,” said Chin Kin Khuan, an Information Systems Engineering student.
The Vista Week culminated with the Vista/Office 2007 Launch held on 21 March. In his speech during the launch, TAR College Vice-Principal Mr Yeow Sing Hing said that campus activities such as the Vista Week provide TAR College students with the opportunity to hone their leadership skills. “Indeed education is not just about the acquisition of technical knowledge and skills – it is about the entire person,” he said.
Yeow further added that TAR College placed great emphasis on students’ holistic education and character development.
The Vista/Office 2007 Launch was also graced by Mr Ian Su, a Developer Evangelist of Microsoft Malaysia.
