In the midst
of a flood which caused various parts of Johor to be submerged last
year, the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia generously donated
RM3,000 to the affected students and staff who were affected by the
disaster. On 11 January 2007, Mr Liaw Fenn Yenn, Head of Johor Branch
Campus represented the association and gave out cash donations to
128 students and hampers to nine staff.
Prior to that, a significant amount of the donation was used to purchase
food and beverage which were distributed to students and staff in
December 2006 when the flood hit.
Ms Kimberly Ong, an SBS lecturer related her ordeal. “Our
hearts beat faster as it rained harder and louder on our rooftops.
It has been a truly traumatic experience. I wish to thank the Association
for the donation and our students and staff, who selflessly extended
help in sending food to our students who were trapped by the flood.
They also assisted to clean-up in the aftermath.”
Sometimes it is amidst tragedy and disaster that the caring side of
human beings emerges. |
