Survivor: TARC - There Can Be Only One
The inaugural Survivor TARC 2006, organised by the Penang Branch Campus’ Chinese Language Society saw six teams competing in a series of challenges that tested their physical prowess and mental capabilities to their limits. Taking after the reality television gameshow, the five-day event was held at Pantai Keracut, a small sandy beach just 3km north of Teluk Bahang.
Each day a team was eliminated until one team remained. Then, the challenges and excitement intensified when the six team members were then pitched to compete against each other in various time-attack challenges à la The Amazing Race in order to determine who the Ultimate Survivor is. At the end, one name stood tall – Johnny See Kheng Boon, a Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting) student rightfully deserved the unofficial title and earned the admiration and respect from his peers and everyone in the College. A closing ceremony was held on the last day at Island Plaza to celebrate the event.

The event was a tremendous success as the participants demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills, teamwork and spirit of unity in the challenges.

This is where brawn makes way for brains as some of the more athletic participants are at a loss and have to rely on their shrewder group members to solve the puzzle.
