When you need help and support in career development and skills upgrading, who are you going to call? At TAR College, the Centre for Continuing Professional Education has been answering that call for the public and students alike. Let’s take a brief look at some of the workshops:
First impressions are lasting impressions, and the point was brought home to the participants of the Professional Image and Social Etiquette workshop. Trainer Ms Jacqui Kwan shared some pointers in how to be a more interesting person, and the participants learnt about the role positive image plays in leading them down the path of personal and corporate successes.  
  Stage fright? Fear no more. In The Art of Presentation workshop, Mr Vincent Hor explained the skills required in managing the audience and delivering presentations with confidence, clarity and persuasiveness. One of the participants Ms Annie Lim said: “Doing a dynamic presentation is more of an art than most people tend to realize. Through the workshop, I have a clearer idea of the way people learn and how to customize my presentations to them. I look forward to utilise my newly-acquired skill to make my next presentation more effective.
Ever felt that you are overwhelmed with data and information? Mastering Microsoft Access may be the solution you’ve been looking for. One participant of the Mastering MS Access – The Basics had this to say of his one-day workshop, “Having very little understanding of Microsoft Access, I found this workshop to be very useful. Now I can use it as a tool to manage information and produce reports in a more systematic manner.  
Jump on the bandwagon and find out why Java Programming has become the buzz word among IT pundits. As a Tan Kee Voon puts it, “I wanted to broaden my knowledge in Java as the other programming languages were fast becoming obsolete. Java is more user-friendly and powerful and it’s a ‘free’ software where you do not have to buy the rights to use it.” This five-day course towards being a Sun Certified Java Programmer gives students a leg-up in their career.

  Job advertisements in newspapers often specify UBS Computerised Accounting knowledge as one of their criteria for selection and we have the course right here at our doorstep. ”It is really a 100% value-added course in which there is a demand for it, especially among Accounting students and TAR College has made it convenient for me to take up the course,” said Ho Yong Kit. Besides this course, there is also the UBS Payroll conducted.

The ever-changing climate of technology compels one to continually upgrade their professional skills in specific technical areas. One such skill is Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Khoo Teng Ghee has this to say about the programme, “I attended free classes for the Introduction to PLC and that led me to continue with the Advanced Level PLC which is a very practical course as we could programme the PLC device and observe the outcome.” This course is especially useful in manufacturing and automobile industries.

Course fee is RM 350 vs the market rate of RM 700.
