Teacher Appreciation Day
SPUS held its first “Teacher Appreciation Day” with students’ performances at the Sports Complex in the KL Main Campus.

It was an enjoyable session of songs, dance and even modelling much to the amusement of the teachers. There were two dances based on sign-language, a Hindu dance and the most memorable performance was SPUS choir’s rendition of the song “You Raise Me Up”.

The afternoon session ended with a cake-cutting session and presentation of the souvenirs to the students who have put up the dance shows.
Our Pre-University School (SPUS) is committed to providing a rewarding educational experience of active learning, practical work and most of all, pastoral care with support from teachers, seniors and the effective involvement of parents through feedback and dialogues. SPUS puts these commitments into practice by organizing not one but three activities i.e Parent –Lecturer Day with a Science & Mathematics exhibition and the Teacher Appreciation Day to enhance ties between students, teachers and parents.

Parent-Lecturer Day with a Science & Mathematics Exhibition
The Parent –Lecturer Day, held on 27 June 2009 was an event where parents, students and lecturers came together to exchange ideas on their children’s progress. It was truly encouraging to see about 100 parents who turned up to discuss with the lecturers on their children’s performances. Parents also got to view a Science & Mathematics Exhibition, specially put up by the students who also assisted Ms Looi Li Chin (Head of Pre University School) to launch the Water Rocket to signify the opening of the exhibition.

The students showcased their creative talents by transforming the classroom into a science wonderland with NASA-like 3-D space rocket model, thrilling hands-on activity on bouncing balls in the Chemistry section and dissection demos on frogs and rats which drew “oohs” and “aahs” from visitors. Other highlights were the lively competition for Mathematics’ King and Queen and the Water Rocket Competition.
