We are now at the threshold of the New Silent Generation, whereby ‘digital natives’ youth are much into the World Wide Web, instant text messaging, online games, social networking, ‘youtube-ing’ and blogging. As the line of merging popular-culture and media technology blurs, the ever-evolving world of creativity in visual arts and design communication is worth a second look. Hence, the Creative Arts Showcase held in June this year is truly a potpourri of the graduating students’ best works and celebration of the aesthetic synergy of the four main core disciplines, namely Advertising, Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Multimedia Design. The theme ‘CHOIZES’ was aptly chosen to represent the essence of it – freedom of expression with the explorative style and uniqueness of the individual.
The event was not only successful in harnessing the passion towards excellence in creativity in both the new and traditional media, but it was also about the feeling of pride and joy among the students in pursuing a creative course in the College. During the opening ceremony, Mr Lee Hwee Chuin, Head of the School of Social Science and Humanities said he hoped that the event would be another step towards empowering everyone towards better employability. Mr Lee was extremely pleased with the impressive students’ masterpieces as it sets a new benchmark for future students to follow. With the knowledge and experiences that they had gained from this event, he hoped that it would offer the students a slice of the real life and give them an idea of what the industry demands.
The event was especially important for Jude Tan Hui Meng as it bore the testimony that she had made the right choice two years ago by insisting in choosing TAR College to pursue her dream of becoming a famous fashion designer.

able to show them what I have learnt as I am proud that my designs were among the best to be featured here today”. Mr and Mrs Tan, who came all the way from Klang to support her, were seen nodding their heads in agreement.
Another talented designer who stole the limelight was Yuki Tan Lai Mei who is currently working under the tutelage of local celebrity designer Key Ng. “I would like to thank all my dedicated lecturers for providing me with a strong foundation. I urge all interested students to come and study in the College as it has quality programmes and the fees are affordable. The many opportunities and hands-on experiences that I gained from the College are invaluable” she said. Inspired by a porcelain doll, her design featured haute couture fashion that incorporates the Victorian style with a modern touch.
