Build your future on G.C.C. That was the advice given by Dr Dwaine Greene to the 303 TAR College graduates from School of Arts and Science who were conferred Campbell University’s Bachelor of Science Degree during a graduation ceremony held in June this year at the College’s KL Main Campus.
Graduation day has always been a special time for reflection, a look to the future, celebration of accomplishments and expression of gratitude. Dr Greene, who is the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost of the University took the opportunity to remind the graduands on the importance of “G.C.C.”, which stands for gratitude, competence and character.
“Gratitude has to do with living a life of integrity as a means of honouring those persons who shaped you into who you are. It is respecting those who have helped you reach this pinnacle of achievement represented by your graduation,” he explained to the graduands in his commencement address.
The sentiments of excitement and gratitude resonated even stronger in the air of the College Hall’s foyer that was bursting with graduates and their family and friends after the ceremony had ended. Amid the crowd bearing flowers, soft toys and a multitude of hugs, Tee Bee Chin posed for photos with her mother Madam Ling who traveled all the way from Batu Pahat to attend the convocation.

“My mum was always there for me to share my problems and support me in times of difficulties,” said Bee Chin who was overflowed with thankfulness. She has her career plan mapped out already as she has just taken up a job offer from a company in Singapore.

“I would like thank to God for everything, and of course my family, lecturers, and friends who have continuously supported me throughout these years,” said Kok Chiann humbly. The 22-year-old lad, who aspires to be a leading specialist in Rich Internet Applications and User Experience technologies in the country, has just joined Nexus Media Inc. to work as a User Experience Designer.
The convocation marked the beginning of the next chapter in life for all the graduates as they set to embark on a new learning expedition. Like their seniors, they are poised to blaze their own path to success, and the sky is the limit. |
