TAR College ruled the Federal Territory (KL) level Pengisahan Kenegaraan competition organised by the Information Department by taking all the five spots at the final on April 21, 2007.
Mohamad Rafiq Mubarak Ali, 18, emerged as the champion and will represent the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur at the national-level patriotic storytelling competition in Miri, Sarawak.
Despite suffering from a leg injury from a football match, Mohamad Rafiq proved his mettle, captivating the audience and a distinguished panel of judges with his piece on the Bukit Kepong incident.
An ecstatic Mohamad Rafiq, who is pursing his Diploma in Business Studies said, “I feel great and happy. I’m looking forward to the national-level competition in June.”
Mohamad Rafiq, who received RM1,000, a certificate and a trophy, also expressed his gratitude to his lecturers and parents for their guidance and support during the competition. |

First runner-up Tatsuko Tong Ai Hui from the School of Social Science and Humanities earned RM750, a certificate and a trophy with her story titled Biar Putih Tulang, Jangan Putih Mata.
Leading the students was TAR College Nation Building and Unity Studies Division Head Ms S. Karthiyani who said participating in such events would help students to improve and enhance their soft skills.
“First of all, they would be able to develop their public speaking skills and also build their confidence when speaking before large audiences.
“At the same time, by taking part in competitions such as this, students would be able to appreciate historical events in our country,” she said. |

The other three finalists from TAR College were Erica Yuen Yoke Khay (School of Business Studies), Goh Tze Ping (School of Social Science and Humanities), and S. Jagathesywara Goopaalan (School of Pre-University Studies). |
