Christmas joy came to TAR College through an exciting carnival event called “The Christmasholic Fiesta” which was jointly organized by Year Two Hospitality Management (Hotel Management) students at Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels. This exercise is partial fulfillment of the Hospitality Management Seminar in their programmes.
The pre-event was the sale of souvenirs and Christmas decorations such as candlesticks, mini light bulbs, finger food and greeting cards at the front of Canteen Two. It was transformed into a “Christmas Land” with a lighted X’mas tree decorated with colourful lights and snowy-like cotton. Adding to the cheer was the red Christmasholic patterned T-shirts of the students with adorable Santa caps at the game stores which attracted the crowd.
The “Christmasholic Fiesta” Carnival was officially launched by Dr Tan Chik Heok on 22nd December 2009 at the TAR College Clubhouse car park. It was a lively event with activities that ranged from musical performances, fashion show, group singing and dancing to body painting and make-up sessions.
The highlight of the Carnival was Santa’s Miracle Night. It was held on 23 December 2009. It was a fun event for all students, friends, staff, etc who enjoyed the food and beverages and participated in photo shooting sessions with Mascots, choir singing and even a secret Santa Gift Exchange session!
This event was fruitful as students learnt the art of planning and organizing an event, interacting with their peers and most of all, working together successfully in bringing the Christmas festivity to the campus. Education at TAR College is more than just books and lecture halls, there are hands-on practical and peer learning experiences that give students a fresh perspective to the realities of networking and teamwork. |
