The first ever CIMA-TARC Student Conference 2008 was held in the College Hall of Tunku Abdul Rahman College Main Campus. The theme “CIMA Apprentice, Origami in Space” put scholars in a business-simulated environment with the objective of sharpening their skills in adapting to the ever-challenging corporate world.
The game saw the teams as manufacturers of high-quality aeroplanes and how they market their products to the clients using limited resources. The element of competition in the game stimulated the creativity of each of the team members in strategizing in order to win the game.
Participants were also given inspirational talks by Ms Gan Shu Xian, an ex-TARCian currently working as a Management Accountant in Shell as well as Mr Yong Shen, a financial analyst from Shell who shared their invaluable experiences with the participants.
The event was set in a fun and educational approach which enlightened the participants about CIMA and their career opportunities as an accountant in the business world.
