TAR College Marketing Training Seminar
A basic fact on customer complaint behavior: On average, twice as many people are told about a bad experience than they are about a good experience.

Today’s customers have higher expectations than ever before. They expect excellence in product and service. Hence, mastering of the product knowledge and marketing skills is essential in delivering excellent value to customers.

With that in mind, the Marketing Training seminar was organized by the Department of Development and External Relations on the 2nd and 3rd September to raise awareness on the role of TAR College staff in promoting the College and also to empower them with necessary knowledge and skills for marketing purposes.

The one and a half day seminar was participated by about 100 academic and administrative staff. The Head of all the Schools presented a short briefing on the courses offered and also answered queries from the participants on some of the difficult questions that the staff had come across during marketing activities such as education fairs and College Open Day.

“I appreciate the fact that I can get updates on the various courses offered by all the schools and also current issues pertaining to these courses. It is especially useful when I counsel the students,” said one of the participants.

A counsellor from the Student Affairs Department also presented the talk on “How to Choose Your Career” to introduce to the participants John Holland’s theory of vocational choices and how it could be used to guide students in course selection.

Besides that, the interactive group discussion session also provided a strategic platform for the participants to discuss and give feedback on some of the marketing issues.

“This is a good way of getting feedback from other lecturers on how to handle queries during the College Open Day,” said a lecturer from School of Technology.

Many participants indicated that through the seminar they have gained more knowledge and insight on different courses. All in all, the seminar has garnered positive response as well as constructive feedback from the participants.
