Hard work deserves
recognition, and five Advanced Diploma students from the School of
Arts and Science were rightfully rewarded when they were presented
with the Microsoft Outstanding Student Award in November 2006. The
five are Ang San Wei of the Business Information Systems course, Loh
Kah Mei of the Internet Technology course, Tang Li Yun of the Computer
Science and Statistics course, and Lo Siap Hwan and Lee Hui Chin of
the Computer Science and Management Mathematics course.
The five students were commended for their outstanding performance
in the unit AACS4064 Object-Oriented Programming which had Microsoft's
technology incorporated in the curriculum. Although it is an IT subject,
the students learnt much more than that. "We were taught
not only programming knowledge and skills but also how to be independent
and hardworking as the only people who can guarantee our success are
ourselves," said San Wei.
The award from Microsoft recognizes the students' hard work and dedication
in their studies as well as highlights their potential to prospective
employers. "It is a great honour to receive the award from
a prestigious IT company," said Hui Chin. "This
award will definitely inspire me, my coursemates and all the other
students to continue to excel in our studies." |
