An Exposition of Employment Opportunities:
TAR College Career Fair 2006

The TAR College Career Fair held in November this year at the Kuala Lumpur Main Campus has garnered an overwhelming response. Launched by the Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn, the fair attracted more than 6,000 students and saw the participation of 71 companies.

The participating companies were from a diverse range of industries, including local and multinational corporations such as AC Nielsen, KPMG, Genting Resorts World, Megasteel, Panasonic, CIMB, British American Tobacco, Maxis, HSBC and Shimano. It celebrated the largest number of participating companies since it started five years ago as employers are increasingly confident in TAR College graduates.

This annual event was organized by the College's Student Affairs Department as a part of the job placement services to provide prospective employers from various industries with a source of potential recruits. The fair serves as a great channel for students and graduates to expose themselves to the many career options that are available in the job market so that they will be able to make informed decisions   for  their   career  pathways.  During  the Career Fair, students and graduates were also able to connect with employers through information sessions, interviews and recruiting activities, which offer ample opportunities for internships or employment in the corporate sector and various industries.

The event was also aimed at creating awareness of job opportunities among students and graduates. During the week-long event, 24 sessions of career talks were delivered by prominent speakers from the industries and professional bodies covering topics such as job opportunities in various industries, business etiquette, resume writing, grooming for corporate world and preparation for attending interviews. In the same event, the College also launched the Student Job Placement Services (SJPS). This is an online service that provides TAR College students and graduates with access to the database of potential employers for recruitment and internship purposes.

The Career Fair would be part of the College's continuing effort to strengthen its links with business and industry as well as to help students and graduates in exploring and enhancing their career prospects.
